Giuliana, and her Passion for Artisanal Fashion

A story of a Family Business

This story is one like many, but albeit one of a kind. It’s a story which tells how inspiration can be drawn from passion other experiences.

Giuliana was born during the late 70’s in Torre Annunziata, a small town bordering Naples.

Always interested in art and design after high school, she began her design studies at the Institute of Design of Naples.

Hard worker, which she has always been, she made her first step in the fashion industry even before finishing her studies. She worked with her uncle, getting to know what “artisanal fashion” really means and learning all the ancient techniques that local artisans use to produce, making their products with leather, denim, jute, cord…

A few years later she found herself in Sydney, where her passion grew into a career. There, she understood the potential of Italian artisanal fashion and founded her company Importante, importing the best Italian handmade designs in Australia & New Zealand. With her passion and skill for design she was able to choose the best local artisanal brands, bringing a new style to Australia and opening an important channel to small artisans in Italy.

Over the years, as her knowledge of the Australian market grew, Giuliana realized that there was a lack of a brand that focused on the craftsmanship of the product and brought to light long-abandoned designs and models, in leather & denim.[/vc_column_text]
